sneak preview

...of a BETHMUTH™ production
brought to you by BETHMUTH™ studios...
These are just a few shots from our day of shooting, which included 3 tapes filming non stop drawing action. The drawing will look mega fast and hopefully amazing when cut down into 5 minutes, Muthy and me enjoyed it a lot (apart from the aching arms and dying pens). When edited and finished we hope you will like it too.
But for now, have a look at these images and...
ENJOY

It's coming!

As we said it would finally, we are putting it all together to make a truely spectacular and delightful individual vision by me and the Muth. I'm truely excited but also cacking it in case certain teachers proper slate it D: bad times if that does happen.

Until its watched and marked we shall never know and we will just have fun with it to the end.
Til then i suppose......

So what now?

BETHMUTH presents
a 'BETHMUTH PRODUCTION'

coming to your viewing pleasure soon...

In film, me and the Demuth are planning on making a unique animation piece consisting of a documentation of us and our crazy little drawings. The film will capture us both drawing our creatures that we draw daily... normally in English :D... but we will edit the piece and compress the time to show the development of a large scale progression into a 5 minute span time.
We will be using a portion of blank white space hopefully in the Gallery, where we will place a large piece of paper where we will draw these creatures and such. Danny has put this idea on to "flickr" and the art teachers are well up for it and think its a good idea for our Year 13 end of year show. So we'd be killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

...this is something how it will look hopefully... but obviously ours will kick this ones ass 10 times over. So watch this space, and hopefully the film teachers will like our idea ^_^. Fingers crossed.

to anyone doing burton

i found a Mark Kermode interview with him a while back in the researching stage, and i'm finally going through it all :D
thought it would be useful for people focusing on Tim

http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2000/jan/06/guardianinterviewsatbfisouthbank3

"Tim Burton
The legend of Sleepy Hollow Hammer films Shooting Sleepy Hollow Burton's reputation as an outsider Animation" . . . . . -that sums it up, and what it includes :D

[this annotated catalogue is looming over me, and i'm now scared haha!]

Horror stuff :)

i found some stuff about horror themes that run through films, knowing i am looking into horror influences and such.

"There are a number of traits a film must exhibit in order to be classified as a horror movie. The most important traits are: the intention to scare the audience, is the building and eventual release of suspense, a dark, oppressive, or dreamlike quality, and the inclusion of a supernatural or highly unusual element. It is the intention of the horror genre to inspire fear combined with the use of suspense that are integral to the viewing enjoyment of a horror movie. These two features evoke a physical response in the viewer: the pulse rate rises, the palms become sweaty, there is a small release of adrenaline. The viewer not only has a mental response but also a physical one. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari was the first horror film to set the trend for horror movies to come."

theres some more stuff about gore in movies but i found this bit about horror which was good as i did't have much about horror and i was a bit worried

^_^

and everyone keeps mentioning dr. caligari is an influence to tim burton and the whole german expressionism too so i'll have to borrow that from a teacher obviously hehe.

and just from this image, i can see why it has influenced him :D

yay im getting somewhere.

websites and shizz

PEOPLE!
use www.rottentomatoes.com, its good, i got 16 replies, some better than others

for example:

"I'd imagine him being highly influenced visually by German Expressionist films (Dr. Caligari being the best example. Some shots Burton practically reused in his own films) and Gothic horror ala Frankenstein. But really, only for visuals. None of his films have really been that dark, and none I would consider horror (I don't how people see Burton's Sleepy Hollow as horror). Something like Batman and Beetlegeuse and Nightmare Before Christmas are visually dark, but fairly light hearted with comedic elements." - TrevorRashid

"Burton has also been heavily influenced by cheesy 1950's horror. Especially in his early work. And I'm not even counting Mars Attacks." - ShockT327

"If you count German Expressionist stuff in the 20s as horror then I'd say yeah probably. Only with his visual style though, his themes tend not to be." - MikeAwesome

and a simple one:

"He's influenced by the moon." - Epistemophobia

focus group Q's

1 What do you think is Tim Burton’s signature that runs through his works?

2 Do you think that there are many horror themes running through his work? Specify.

3 Do you think his continual uses of horror elements are important in defying him as an auteur and who he is as a film maker?

try and think up some good long answers for those who are interested ;)

the burton

[click on the arrows left and right at the bottom of the web page link provided and it will give some more information about tim burton]

The link above is a site about how Tim Burton was influenced by 'Gothic' and 'German Expressionist ' pictures and movies. It speaks about how the short movie Vincent reflects the clearest and most extreme example of this style.

"Burton's other films are a combination of this gothic expressionism on the one hand, and cartoonish, bright colors on the other."

This quote from the site links in with Edward Scissorhands.
The "Pastel Suburbia" town where the story is set contrasts with the gothic mansion where Edward lives and where we meet and leave him in, in the film.
This shows the difference of each world in just one town.

more tim burton stuff

just found a site that might be helpful for everyone whos doing tim burton

http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/contributor/1800023303

theres a filmography of his films and there are some responses and comments from the critics and yahoo people

^_^

ok

Ive posted 3 videos that make up Tim Burton's short film, "Frankenweenie", Tim Burton's doggy version of Frankenstein. By using a dog we see Tim Burton's repetation of using dead dogs in his films. And it also shows his love for a classic horror, and Hammer Horror films, by re-creating them and giving them a twist.

right

ive gotta post some stuff to look good and like im working so
